Gaza rockets fired at Israel miss their mark

JERUSALEM (JTA) — Three rockets fired from the Gaza Strip at Israel landed in Gazan territory.

The Code Red siren sounded throughout the southern Israeli city of Ashkelon early Wednesday morning, signifying the launching of rockets from Gaza, but none landed in or near the city.

The rockets were fired as world leaders gathered in Jerusalem for the President’s Conference, honoring the 90th birthday of Israeli President Shimon Peres.

It was the first rocket fired on Israel since April 20. About 20 rockets have been fired from Gaza on southern Israel this year so far. Gazan terror groups fired several rockets on Israel in March during the high-profile visit by U.S. President Barack Obama.
