Dustin Hoffman treated for cancer

(JTA) — Academy Award-winning actor Dustin Hoffman was treated for cancer.

“It was detected early and he has been surgically cured,” Hoffman’s publicist told People Magazine, which was the first to report the story.

She added that the actor is “feeling great” and is “in good health.”

It is unknown what kind of cancer Hoffman, 75, was stricken with. He reportedly will have treatment to prevent a reoccurrence.

Hoffman won best actor Oscars in 1979 for “Kramer vs. Kramer” and 1988 for “Rain Man.” He directed the 2012 film “Quartet.” He recently wrapped up production on a comedy film, “Chef,” which also stars Scarlett Johansson and Robert Downey Jr.
