Unity Gathering and Tree Planting at Washington University

Members of the Washington University in St. Louis community gathered near Francis Field and Simon Hall for a “Unity Gathering & Tree-Planting” Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2018 in St. Louis. The event was organized in response to the killing of members of the Jewish community in Pittsburgh Oct. 27. Among the participants was Zach Moskow, a member of the Class of 2020, who had family members killed in the massacre. Rabbi Hershey Novack of WashU Chabad, the Rev. Beth Scriven of Interfaith Campus Ministries, Emely Dela Pena of the WU Center for Diversity & Inclusion, WU Chancellor Mark S. Wrighton and Rabbi Jordan Gerson of WashU Hillel also delivered remarks during the event. The group then planted a tree to remember those killed. Moskow delivers remarks during the event.
