Dr. George Grossberg was a recipient of the 2023 International Psychogeriatric Association’s (IPA) Distinguished Service to the Field of Psychogeriatrics Award. The award recognizes colleagues who have demonstrated inspiration, leadership, vision, ethics, innovation, organizational development and motivation in areas of psychogeriatrics.
In addition, Grossberg, the inaugural Henry and Amelia Nasrallah Endowed Professor at St. Louis University, and his colleagues were instrumental in developing the first and only Food and Drug Administration-approved treatment for agitation associated with Alzheimer’s dementia.
They discovered that REXULTI® significantly reduced agitation in patients with Alzheimer’s disease and was well-tolerated with few side effects. Grossberg is the Samuel W. Fordyce professor and director of geriatric psychiatry at St. Louis University School of Medicine specializing in Alzheimer’s disease and other neurocognitive disorders.
