Barbara Silver (Outstanding Fundraising Volunteer) and Sam Abeles (Outstanding Youth in Philanthropy) will be honored by the St. Louis Regional Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals at a National Philanthropy Day Breakfast on Nov. 14 at the Marriott Grand. These awards are given in recognition of those who positively affect nonprofit organizations in the St. Louis region, improving the quality of life for all people.
Silver has volunteered with Miriam School and Learning Center for 60 years. She has served in a wide variety of roles and has had a huge impact on Miriam and the students with learning differences.
Sam, a freshman at Clayton High School and son of Jenny and Zach Abeles, has been helping his community for over 10 years. He has donated all his fundraising efforts to NCJWSTL, UNICEF and Pedal the Cause, having raised more than $8,000 for cancer research. Both honorees attend Congregation Temple Israel.
