Young professionals, families with children, couples, and college students have an opportunity to make a difference in the St. Louis community during a Sunday afternoon volunteer project. Jewish Federation’s Young Professionals Division, St. Louis Hillel at Washington University, and the Karen Solomon Young Adult Service Initiative are co-sponsoring the 4th Annual Roffman Family Day of Service from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, April 29.
Volunteers will meet at 1 p.m. in the Mallinckrodt Multipurpose Room on Washington University’s Danforth Campus for a brief introduction. From there, transportation will be provided to Gateway 180, a St. Louis city emergency shelter for women and children. The group will help with cooking, organizing, arts and crafts, children’s activities and more. Participants may also stay on Wash U’s campus and work on projects to benefit the shelter.
George Roffman was a Wash U student from 1999 until 2001, when a brain tumor caused his untimely death. Roffman served as a student member of the St. Louis Hillel Board of Directors, and actively participated in community service.
