Last week, we shared the above photo from the July 5, 1978, issue of the Jewish Light, featuring five women from the Shaare Zedek Sisterhood. The five were running a booth at the sixth annual “U. City Fair In The Square” in the Delmar Loop, where they sold homemade cakes.
The fair was hosted by 16 churches and synagogues and the University City Arts Association.
Since posting the photo we believe we have identified all five women in the photo.
“The woman second to the right is Jeanette Seltzer,” wrote Leslie Buguslaw Becker on Facebook. “She is my husband Ron’s godmother and was also a past president of Shaare Zedek Sisterhood. We sent this to her daughter Leah Seltzer Tarlow in New Jersey. Thanks for the great memory and for posting.”
Becker also alerted us that the woman third to the right is Mollie Bleiweiss.
In another message on Facebook, Ed Musen said, “Yes! The woman on the far right is my mother, Lillian Musen. She was president of the sisterhood of Shaare Zedek at one time. Wow, thanks for posting.”
“I believe the woman, second from the left, is Annie Baum. Jody Feldman do you agree,” wrote Cheri Becker Winchell on our Facebook page.
Jody Feldman responded, “I do so much that I emailed that to Jordan Palmer at the Light.”
Feldman did send us the info. That left one more woman to find. Then Leslee Kaplan Jacobson made the following post.
“The one on the far left with the striped shirt is Tillie Schenberg. She was one of my mom’s Maj buddies and good friend,” said Jacobson.
And now our picture is complete!
