On Saturday evening, Congregation Temple Israel is hosting “Havdalah & Conversation on Abortion,” featuring a virtual Havdalah and a presentation by Women of Reform Judaism (WRJ) as well as a discussion to follow facilitated by Nancy Litz, president of National Council of Jewish Women – St. Louis (NCJWSTL).

The event takes place at 6:15 p.m. Saturday, July 9 at Temple Israel, which is located at 1 Rabbi Alvan Rubin Drive, at the corner of Ladue and Spoede roads.

Community leaders in the field of women’s health and advocacy will discuss the Supreme Court’s decisdion to overturn Roe v. Wade. Following the virtual presentation, Litz will facilitate a group discussion on the impact of the SCOTUS decision, how it intersects with Jewish beliefs, and actions the community can take in the wake of the decision.

The event is open to the entire St. Louis Jewish community. Event organizers said the conversation will be most appropriate for those 18 years and older and that people of any gender are welcome, and they noted there will be ample police and community security during the event. Masks are optional. Snacks and beverages will be provided. For more information, contact Martina Stern at [email protected] or 314-432-8050 x233. RSVP required at www.ti-stl.org/Roe.
