A St. Louis band’s efforts to raise money for the purchase of a Life Support Ambulance for the Magen David Adom, Israel’s emergency medical service, has reached half its goal.
On Oct. 16, the band Folkstone, a Roots-Americana quartet, performed to help raise money for a Life Support Ambulance. Their goal is to reach $115,000. As of Nov. 6, they have just passed the halfway mark, having raised $58,234.
“As you may know, the need for medical supplies has reached a critical level right now in Israel. We are grateful for any amount you can donate to help purchase a Life Support Ambulance for the Magen David Adom, the emergency medical service in Israel. We are grateful for your donations as well as for your help in spreading the word,” said rhythm guitarist Stan Hoffman.
The Magen David Adom
Before the attack, the Magen David Adom had exactly 1,400 ambulances ready for service. All have been activated since Oct. 7 as well as its medicycles, helicopters and all other vehicles.
“EMTs and paramedics are treating the wounded, often while under rocket attack and gunfire themselves. As always, the men and women of MDA are risking their lives to save the lives of others,” said an MDA spokesperson in an email to the Jewish Light. “Help is desperately needed to put more ambulances on the road and to replenish supplies for EMTs and paramedics and for MDA’s blood services division. We thank everyone in St. Louis for your help.”
