SH’MA Listen! Israel speaker series continues with Gershom Gorenberg

The next SH’MA Listen! Speaker Series – Israel Edition event will feature Gershom Gorenberg, author and senior correspondent for The American Prospect and columnist for Haaretz, who will discuss the development of Israeli democracy and policies that might undermine it, and will discuss what can be done to preserve and renew the Israeli republic.

The event, presented by Jewish Federation of St. Louis and the Saul Brodsky Jewish Community Library, takes place at 7 p.m. Monday, Feb. 16 at the Jewish Federation Kopolow Building, 12 Millstone Campus Drive.

Gorenberg is the author of “The Unmaking of Israel,” a provocative examination of Israeli history that describes the crisis of Israeli democracy and lays out a vision for the country’s future. Gorenberg, a Jerusalem resident, has also written for The Atlantic, The New York Times Magazine, The New York Review of Books, and Foreign Policy.

For more information or to RSVP, contact Joan Wolchansky at [email protected] or 314-442-3760.

The series is a Federation initiative highlighting speakers local groups bring to the St. Louis Jewish community. The series is supported by the Lubin-Green Foundation, a supporting Foundation of Jewish Federation, and Hank Webber and Chris Jacobs.
