Rabbi Emeritus Mark L. Shook of Congregation Temple Israel will lead a Saturday morning Bible study class looking at “A Jewish Understanding of the New Testament.” The class takes place at 9:30 a.m. on Saturdays beginning Oct. 2 and continuing through spring 2022. The greater St. Louis community is invited to join the class via Zoom
This year’s class topic “will be a thoughtful and in-depth examination of the New Testament from a Jewish perspective, as the New Testament is often the best historical source for information on Jewish life in the years leading up to the Judean Revolt against Rome circa 70 AD.”
The text for this class is “The Jewish Annotated New Testament,” edited by Amy-Jill Levine and Marc Zvi Brettler, and published by Oxford University Press. This text contains the complete New Revised Standard Version Bible Translation along with extensive commentary by Jewish and non-Jewish Bible Scholars.
To join the class on Zoom, or for more information, email Shook at [email protected]. No previous Bible Study experience is necessary.
