Part I: A Jewish Understanding of the New Testament (continued) Oct. 4 – Dec. 27. First semester will conclude the discussion on a Jewish understanding of the New Testament with a detailed look at one of the most fascinating and controversial of all the books in the New Testament, The Book of Revelations (The Revelation to John). In a stunning bit of irony, the New Testament is often the best historical source for information on Jewish life in the years leading up to the Judean Revolt against Rome in the year 70. The Book of Revelations is based upon a Jewish Biblical literary tradition known as an apocalypse. The Book of Daniel is one such text.

During the second semester, we’ll continue our TI tradition of engaging in the literary and sacred texts of religious communities not our own. Our text for this study will be “The Qur’an, A New English Annotated Translation.”
