Nominations sought for Jewish Sports Hall of Fame

The St. Louis Jewish Sports Hall of Fame is now accepting nominations for the Class of 2014. The Hall of Fame is located inside the Jewish Community Center’s Staenberg Family Complex in Creve Coeur and is managed by the J.

Nominations are being accepted for Jewish men and women who have made significant contributions or accomplishments in a sport or sports related field. These individuals must be of strong character and serve as a positive role model for sports and athletics within their community during their careers. Candidates must also have spent a portion of their life in the St. Louis metropolitan area.

All nominations must be submitted on the official 2014 St. Louis Jewish Sports Hall of Fame nomination form available online at jccstl.org

Nomination forms and supporting documentation must be submitted no later than January 15, 2014. All forms must be completed in their entirety for nominees to be considered for Hall of Fame status. A selection committee will evaluate all submissions. Recognition to the Hall of Fame may be awarded posthumously. Selected inductees will be announced in the spring.

The St. Louis Jewish Sports Hall of Fame was made possible by the family of Isadore Beilenson and dedicated to his memory on July 12, 1992. Isadore was a remarkable athlete and leader who possessed a community-minded spirit. Individuals from the St. Louis area selected for induction serve as role models for the youth of today because of their achievements, outstanding character, leadership skills and commitments to the highest standards of sportsmanship. Past inductions have occurred in 1992, 1995, 1997, 1998, 2005 and 2010.
