Nominate an Unsung Hero in the community
Published December 13, 2017
This week, the Jewish Light begins to once again accept nominations for its ninth annual Unsung Heroes Awards. Roughly 10 honorees will be honored in the Light’s OY! Unsung Heroes magazine and at a special reception the evening of Monday, May 21 at the Jewish Community Center’s Performing Arts Center. The nomination form appears on Page 11A and will be included in the Jewish Light for the next six weeks.
Nominations can also be made online at stljewishlight.com/unsung. The deadline for submissions is 5 p.m. Jan. 21.
The Light solicits nominations from the community of those making a major impact without seeking substantial public recognition for their efforts. Honorees can be individuals or groups who are either Jewish or non-Jewish making a difference within the Jewish community and/or Jewish individuals or groups making an impact in the community-at-large.
A committee of Jewish community leaders helps the Light review the nominations. Roughly 10 nominees will be selected and honored.
The 2018 Unsung Heroes event will be co-chaired by two former Unsung Heroes: Betsy Mehlman and Suzanne Epstein-Lang. Sponsorships opportunities are available, ranging from $1,000 to $10,000, and include a wide range of recognition and perks, depending on the level.
