NHBZ hosts Rep. Carnahan for Synaplex Shabbat

Nusach Hari B’nai Zion will welcome Rep. Russ Carnahan, D-Mo., for a presentation on “Middle East Policy in a Changing Middle East: Israel, Iran and the Arab Spring” as a special Synaplex Shabbat on Saturday, May 12.

The Synaplex Shabbat series typically offers morning services followed by a choice of several breakout sessions led by different speakers.

During this Synaplex, services will be followed by only one breakout session for adults, the talk by Carnahan.

Regular services begin at 8:30 a.m. Learner’s services begin at 10:15 a.m. in the chapel led by Rabbi Ze’ev Smason. Carnahan’s talk — and youth programming sessions — begin at 11 a.m.

Youth programming for children age 4 and over, will be led by Abi Epstein and Tot Shabbat will be led by Whitney Gartenberg. At approximately noon, all attendees will then re-gather together for a Kiddush lunch.

Rep. Carnahan represents Missouri’s 3rd Congressional District and is running in the Democratic primary to represent the newly redistricted 1st Congressional District.

NYBZ’s Synaplex Shabbat is free and open to the public. Home hospitality for the weekend is available. NHBZ is located at 650 North Price Road in Olivette. For more information, call 314-991-2100 or visit www.nhbz.org.
