Mizzou fraternity plans annual ‘Rock-A-Thon’ fundraiser

The University of Missouri-Columbia chapter of the Alpha Epsilon Pi Fraternity will hold its biennial “Rock-A-Thon” philanthropy April 27-29. The money raised will go toward the American Cancer Society for Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma research.

The event has been taking place since 1969.  It involves a single fraternity member sitting in a rocking chair for 63 hours while remaining members disperse across Columbia, as well as mid-Missouri, Kansas City and St. Louis to can for donations.

Senior Adam Bodner was elected as the “Rocker” for the philanthropy this year.

In 2015, fraternity members collected $132,000 (breaking their previous record of $123,000 in 2013) for Rock-A-Thon.

This year’s event will take place on a stage near the corner of Eighth Street and Broadway in downtown Columbia, Mo., starting at 7 a.m. April 27 and ending at 10 p.m. April 29. Learn more at www.aepirockathon.com or donate at crowdrise.com/aepirockathonmu.

The group has also planned a charity golf tournament on Saturday, April 22, at Forest Hills Golf Course in St. Louis, as well as a profit share at Shakespeare’s Pizza in downtown Columbia on April 24.
