Jewish teen group holds annual native plant sale, rain barrel raffle

The Jewish Community Center’s Jewish Environmental Initiative and its JEI Teen Group are holding their third annual native plant sale and rain barrel raffle from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Sunday, April 27, at Congregation Shaare Emeth, 11645 Ladue Road. The event is a benefit for the JEI Teen Group.

The sale will include a variety of native plants that people can preorder or purchase at the sale. Native plants require less water, fertilizer and pesticides, making them easier to care for than non-native plants. Planting native flowers improves soil health, increases water and nutrient filtration and decreases the volume of runoff water.

Included for sale will be naturally grown herbs and lettuces from Flower Hill Farm. There also will be an opportunity to learn about rain barrels — which collect water for garden use and can reduce water bills — and to enter a raffle to win a rain barrel.

A flier is available online at jcrcstl.org/jei.php#two. For more information, contact Gail Wechsler at [email protected] or 314-442-3894.
