The Kolot Women’s Choir is set to begin its new season on Sept. 9 with a fresh face at the helm. Zoey Waldman-Schein has been named the new artistic director, succeeding longtime director Betti Blumoff, who passed away suddenly last January.
Waldman-Schein, a graduate of Webster University with a bachelor’s degree in Choral and General Music Education, brings a wealth of experience in music education, nonprofit development, and social justice facilitation to the role. In addition to the new position with Kolot, Waldman-Schein is a program designer and strategist with Tiny Windows Consulting and serves as a teacher and song leader at Temple Emanuel, Central Reform Congregation, and the JCC Family Center and Early Childhood Center.

Kolot meets weekly on Monday evenings from September through May and performs at various community events, offering concerts for local organizations and senior living centers. The choir, which was founded in 2005 by member Jackie Gerson, currently features more than 25 singers.
