JSU of St. Louis plans summer Israel trip for teens

Jewish Student Union is planning a monthlong summer Israel trip for the community’s teens. The Jerusalem Journey (TJJ) will include visits throughout Israel — from the Golan Heights to the shores of Eilat. Participants will swim in the Kinneret, visit archeological digs, hike through the mountains and float in the Dead Sea. The group will pray at the Western Wall, hike up Masada and visit Israel’s holy sites. TJJ is designed for public school teens looking to learn more about their Jewish heritage through hands-on, meaningful experiences.
St. Louis teens will join other teens from the Midwest on their own bus, which will be one of 12 providing the leading Israel teen summer experience for over 500 teens from North America.
“TJJ is a game changer when it comes to inspiring today’s teens to take responsibility for their Jewish identity and connection to Israel,” said Rabbi Mike Rovinsky, director of JSU of St. Louis. “JSU has sent dozens of teens on TJJ over the years and, without fail, each one comes back ‘on fire’ vis à vis their Jewish identity and relationship with Israel.”
Due to the generosity of several national philanthropists, JSU is able to offer TJJ to St. Louis youth for $2,699.(The trip would ordinarily cost more than $8,000. Additional scholarships are available on a first-come, first-served basis.)
There will be an information night at 7:45 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 28, at the Starbucks at Wydown Boulevard and Hanley Road in Clayton. For more information, contact Rovinsky at 314-498-6279 or [email protected].
