JOLT offers summer sampler events in May and June

JOLT: Jewish Opportunities & Learning for Teens is offering a summer sampler of events over three separate evenings: May 31, June 6 and 14.
Teens entering grades 8-12 are invited for the “sampler” events, which take place from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on each night:
• Thursday, May 31 — “Cooking for Community Service”
will pair students with St. Louis chef Betsy Enger. The class will prepare kosher meals for those unable to cook for themselves. The class will help others while learning about nutrition as well as some traditional recipes, all while socializing with your friends. The class takes place at Congregation B’nai Amoona, 324 S. Mason Road. The cost is $15.
• Wednesday, June 6 — “Jews on the Silver Screen” offers an evening at the “movies” with friends while enjoying refreshments, followed by movie critique and discussion. The class takes place in the Jewish Federation Kopolow Building, 12 Millstone Campus Drive in Creve Coeur. The cost is $15.
• Tuesday, June 14 — “Glass Fusing Mezuzah Making” offers teens the chance to create a glass mezuzah cover under the leadership of professional glass artist Batya Rich. Participants will discuss the Mitzvah of Mezuzah while creating their own keepsake and socializing with friends. The class takes place in the Jewish Federation Kopolow Building, 12 Millstone Campus Drive in Creve Coeur. The cost is $30 and includes materials and firing.
