JFed seeks grant applicants to open doors for NextGen volunteers
Published October 12, 2011
Jewish Federation is currently seeking proposals from established nonprofits or grassroots groups for ‘The Karen Solomon Young Adult Service Initiative’ to create an ongoing volunteer program for Jewish young adults. Funding is provided through an endowment created by St. Louis philanthropist and retired Anheuser-Busch Recycling Corporation Executive, William “Bill” Solomon, whose late wife, Karen, was a passionate community volunteer. Proposals for the annual grant of $25,000 are due by Nov. 1. The endowment was created through the Federation’s Jewish Community Foundation.
The grant-receiving organization will be responsible for recruiting Jewish young adults to participate in a signature volunteer project focusing on people in great need of assistance. Program activities are open-ended, but should incorporate Jewish learning and remain committed to a specific cause. Examples might include young adult volunteers for an organic garden with produce donated to low-income individuals or a transportation program for vulnerable seniors. To submit a proposal or for a copy of the request for proposal (RFP), contact Susan Scribner at [email protected] or 314-442-3846.
