JCRC, Federation’s Israel Center plan Oct. 19 kickoff for Invest in Peace Series
Published October 18, 2021
The Jewish Community Relations Council, in partnership with the Jewish Federation of St. Louis’ Israel Center, is proud to present the Invest in Peace Series, which will provide monthly virtual programs that highlight organizations or initiatives within Israel working to build peace, cooperation, and shared society.
The first program will take place on Tuesday, October 19, 2021 from noon to 1 p.m. This program will focus on Givat Haviva International School (GHIS) based in Northern Israel. Hear from Clare King Lassman, part of the founding team of the Givat Haviva International Center, as well as students and alumni from the school about their inspiring efforts.
GHIS opened in August 2018 for students from Israel and around the world with the aim of creating a group of diverse International and Israeli leaders with the skills and desire to work towards building a more equitable and sustainable future. GHIS believes we face an increasing number of global challenges in our rapidly changing world, including migration, climate change, social and economic polarization, nationalism, and religious extremism. We need leaders who are more effectively equipped to deal with these problems: leaders who are able to think and act differently, connect across national and cultural boundaries, negotiate and work together – essentially, leaders who understand how to mitigate conflict.
