JCC’s Hazon CSA plans ‘Meet the Farmers’
Published February 8, 2012
The Jewish Community Center offers the community a chance to meet with the new farmers providing produce for the Hazon Community Supported Agriculture Program (CSA). Farmers from Dry Dock Farms will discuss organic farming and share samples of produce and photos of their farm from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 26 at the JCC Staenberg Family Complex’s fitness area. The farmers will answer questions for those interested in joining the CSA while spaces are still available.
The Hazon CSA at the J is an opportunity to pre-purchase locally grown, fresh, organic produce from a farmer in your community. Participants purchase a “share” for the 2012 season, and then pick up vegetables at the JCC every Wednesday from June through October.
Each week, CSA subscribers will receive four servings of six different vegetables. Smaller families may sign up for a half-share and pick up every other week. Food not picked up is automatically donated to the Harvey Kornblum Jewish Food Pantry.
The Hazon CSA is coordinated by Helene Mirowitz Center of Jewish Community Life. For more information contact Diane Maier at 314-442-3190 or [email protected].
