HJ’s Café at Covenant Place begins serving breakfast, lunch, with dinner service to start in November

(L-R): Theresa Mann and Connie Williams are front-of-the-house managers at HJ’s Cafe, a new restaurant inside Covenant Place with kosher and non-kosher kitchens.

The new HJ’s Café, located adjacent to the Mirowitz Center in the new Covenant Place II Cahn Family Building, has opened and is currently serving breakfast and lunch on Mondays through Fridays in October. Starting in November, HJ’s Café will be open for dinner as well.

“Everything is fresh and made to order,” said Joan Denison, president and CEO of Covenant Place and the Mirowitz Center. “The comments we’ve heard from the first week of diners have been universally positive.”

The café includes a $5 Senior Special menu item each weekday.

Company Kitchen, a 100-year-old food service company out of Kansas City, founded by Myron Green, is managing the new restaurant. The company, which operates hundreds of food service operations across the county, received a 2018 Food Innovator Award.

Initial hours of operation during October are Monday-Friday from 7:30 to 10:30 a.m. for breakfast, and 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. for lunch. In November, service hours will expand to include dinner from 5 to 7 p.m. Also, in November, HJ’s will open its Vaad Hoeir-supervised dairy kosher kitchen with kosher menu items served throughout the day.

HJ’s offers catering for parties and meetings, deli platters, kosher dairy selections, lox and bagel trays (featuring Breadsmith bagels) and sweet trays. For catering or other information, call 314-733-9812 or email [email protected].
