An eight-week series, “Doing Jewish: An in-depth overview of the hows and whys,” will look at basic Jewish practices, how to observe them, laws associated with them and study of the sources in the Torah and Talmud. Rabbi Hyim Shafner of Bais Abraham Congregation and Rabbi Avi Katz Orlow of Hillel will teach the class Tuesdays, 8-9 p.m., through March 28. Spanish Club event set
The Jewish Spanish Club will meet at 7 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 5, at 275 Union Blvd. at the clubhouse of the West End Building. The club will show Waiting for the Messiah, an Argentinean movie in Spanish with English subtitles. Light refreshments will be served. For more information, call 314-725-7499.
Program for singles
The Reform Singles Together 60’s+ Group will present a program and dinner on Tuesday, Feb. 7, at Temple Israel Congregation. The dinner, being catered by the Uptown Cafe, will begin at 6 p.m. William Magnan, author of The Streets of St. Louis: A History of St. Louis Street Names, will present a program. Blood drive at U.H.
A Red Cross Blood Drive will be held on Sunday, Feb. 12, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at United Hebrew Congregation, 13788 Conway Rd. All individuals 17 years of age who weigh at least 110 pounds are encouraged to donate. Individuals may come to the temple between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. to make a donation. Shabbat Live at Chabad
Chabad of Chesterfield will host an open Friday Night Live Shabbat dinner on Feb. 10. The topic will be Listening to Life’s Messages
with an interactive program, family-friendly discussions, engaging activities, and traditional Shabbat food. JCC offers ski trip
The JCC Maccabi Club will offer a ski trip to Hidden Valley Ski Resort on President’s Day, Monday, Feb. 20. The buses will leave from the Marilyn Fox Building in Chesterfield at 9 a.m. and return at 4 p.m. Maccabi Club is for Jewish middle-school aged teens and offers year-round events and social opportunities. Tu B’Shevat seder set
Congregation Shaare Emeth will host its second Tu B’Shevat seder on Sunday, Feb. 12, from 5-7:30 p.m. Participants are asked to bring their own dinner. Drinks and desserts will be provided. Matinee, lunch at U.H.
United Hebrew Congregation will sponsor a matinee film and lunch program on Wednesday, Feb. 15, at 12:30 p.m. in the Jablon Youth Lounge. The program will begin with a deli lunch followed by the exclusive showing of the film Judgment in Berlin, starring Martin Sheen and Sean Penn. The cost of the program is $4 for United Hebrew members or $5 for non-members.
