Hadassah walk at JCC marks first Israel Koman Race for the Cure
Published October 13, 2010
The historic first ever Israel Komen Race for the Cure will be held Thursday, Oct. 28 around the walls of Old Jerusalem with Jerusalem Mayor Nir Barkat as host and in partnership with Hadassah, the Women’s Zionist Organization of America, to celebrate Breast Cancer Awareness Month. In a show of solidarity, members and friends of both Komen and St. Louis Chapter Hadassah will walk on that same day at noon at the Jewish Community Center Staenberg Family Complex in Creve Coeur.
There is no fee for the St. Louis walk. However, walkers should register as ‘virtual racers’ at www.hadassah.org/komen. St. Louisians will want to register as part of the ‘Great Plains Region Hadassah Heelers Team,’ allowing a donation to be made to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure organization. Proceeds from this Israel race will fund a week of activities in Israel, of which the first Israel Race for the Cure is the centerpiece. During the week in Israel, Susan G. Komen for the Cure is launching the Israel Breast Cancer Collaborative and is also sponsoring an invitation-only Think Tank of global scientists to explore vital breast cancer issues.
For more information about registering as a virtual walker and/or joining the virtual walk at the St. Louis JCC, please call the Hadassah office at 314-991-0434 or email [email protected].
