On Sunday, Nov. 12, the Jewish Student Union (JSU) will celebrate its 21st year at its annual gala, the Eternal Jewish Flame. Jackie and Howard Oppenheimer, of Young Israel of St. Louis, will receive JSU’s Lifetime Achievement Award for being pillars of the Jewish community. Howard Oppenheimer is a longtime executive vice president of Delmar Gardens. Jackie Oppenheimer was a teacher at Epstein Hebrew Academy for more than 30 years and continues to volunteer there on a regular basis.
JSU will present the Jewish Engagement Award to Judith and Ted Isaacs, members of Congregation B’nai Amoona. They encourage Jewish engagement and involvement and support many Jewish organizations in the community.
Scott Biondo, director of community security at the Jewish Federation, will receive JSU’s Community Service Award. He is passionate about his love of the Jewish people and is dedicated to protecting the Jewish community.
