Cultural Leadership extends application deadline to April 30

The deadline for applications for Cultural Leadership’s high school program has been extended until April 30. The nine-month program, which begins around the start of the academic school year, is open to high school students entering their sophomore or junior year (so they must currently must be a freshman or sophomore to apply).  Participants attend monthly meetings and three weeklong retreats, learn leadership skills, explore African American and Jewish history and culture, and discover the pervasiveness of privilege and oppression. The program culminates with a three-week Transformational Journey to 15 U.S. cities significant to the civil rights movement.

Applications can be submitted online at CulturalLeadership.org, or email [email protected] for a hard copy application form.

Those interested can learn more about Cultural Leadership, which also offers a summer leadership camp for middle school students, at an informational session at 6 p.m. April 19 at the Arts & Education Building of the Jewish Community Center, 2 Millstone Campus Drive. Students and their parents interested in either the high school program or middle school camp are encouraged to attend.

This year’s Camp Cultural Leadership runs from July 7-29, Mondays through Fridays and is being hosted by the University City School District. To register for the camp or find out more, go to CulturalLeadership.org. Registration closes June 1.
