Covenant Place announces new board president

Covenant Place has installed Stewart James “Jim” Deutsch as board president. The announcement was made at the Covenant Place board’s May meeting.

Deutsch is President and CEO at Smith, Moore and Co. and is a financial services executive with more than 20 years of experience. He has served on the Covenant Place board since 2010 and previously served as Treasurer and Vice-President.

The Covenant Place board also welcomed as new board members Richard Alport, Paul R. Cahn, Sharon Greenstein Gorman and Brian J. Newman.

Covenant Place is in the midst of a multi-year capital campaign to fund the replacement of its three senior apartment buildings that have become functionally obsolete, with fully-accessible, energy-efficient one-bedroom apartment buildings.

The first building, the Covenant Place I Harry and Jeanette Weinberg Building, opened in June 2016.

Construction on the Covenant Place II Cahn Family Building is scheduled to begin this summer. The second building will include the Mirowitz Center, offering resources and services for older adults in the community, including medical services, affordable dining, health and wellness education and activities.
