The Central Agency for Jewish Education announces the 2011 Israel merit-based scholarship awardees. The recipients were chosen on the basis of an essay, their activities in the Jewish community, commitment to continued Jewish education and high school achievement.

Recipients of the Stuart I. Pessin Award are Shira LeDeaux and Miranda Siler. Recipients of the Israel Teen Fellows Award are Jacqueline Elkin, Alyssa Guller, Ethan Lane, Isabella Russo, Samantha Weil and Jacob Weisman.

The merit-based funds complement the existing Israel teen scholarship program that is administered by the Central Agency for Jewish Education and funded by the Jewish Federation of St. Louis.
