For nearly 50 years, Albarré Jewelry has been more than a trusted jeweler in St. Louis—it has been a cornerstone of generosity and community connection. Founded in 1976 Barry Sherman, Albarré has built relationships that extend far beyond its showroom, supporting countless charitable causes along the way.
This commitment was on full display this past September when Albarré partnered with the Jewish Federation of St. Louis for “Shop for Israel,” a two-day fundraising event that raised $12,000 for the Israel Emergency Fund. It was a moment that not only showcased Albarré’s philanthropic spirit but also highlighted the deep bonds between the store and the community it serves.
A community coming together
Jamie Danieli, second-generation owner and daughter of founder Barry Sherman, credits the store’s long-standing relationships for the event’s success.
“Our customers include pillars of the Jewish community and religious leaders, and I think that connection played a big role. It was a combination of the Federation reaching out to its members and us personally reaching out to our customers to let them know about the event,” she explains.
Even before the event took place, Danieli and her team sensed something special.
“We were pleasantly surprised at how many people responded with excitement and support,” she says. “It’s been such a dark time for the Jewish community since Oct. 7th, and I think this was a way for people to come together, do something positive and feel hopeful.”
The event turnout exceeded expectations, and months later, customers still visit Albarré, expressing their appreciation and ongoing support for Israel.
Giving back
Philanthropy has been embedded in Albarré’s mission since its inception.
“My dad has always been philanthropic,” said Danieli, a member of United Hebrew. “He grew up admiring people who gave back and always hoped he’d be in a position to do the same. He’s always said, ‘We support those who support us.’” That philosophy has guided Albarré’s charitable work, aligning with causes the team believes in and that matter deeply to their customers.
Over the years, Albarré has supported a wide range of organizations, including the Jewish Book Festival, Mirowitz, the Jewish Student Union, Federation, the St. Louis Zoo, Wounded Warriors, STAGES, Major Case Squad, Epworth, Moolah Shriners, St. Jude’s, Children’s Hospital and The Butterfly House. The list continues to grow, reflecting the store’s dedication to making a lasting impact.
Looking ahead
As a second-generation owner, Danieli is committed to carrying forward her father’s legacy of giving. “We’ve talked about partnering with the Federation again, maybe around Hanukkah,” she says. “We want to find unique ways to make shopping fun while also giving people the satisfaction of knowing they’re supporting a local business that, in turn, supports the Jewish community and Israel.”
And as for the future? Albarré has no plans to slow down. “We are committed to being philanthropic forever,” Danieli affirms.
From its founding to today, Albarré Jewelry has proven that a successful business isn’t just about selling beautiful pieces—it’s about building relationships, strengthening the community, and making a difference. That’s a legacy worth celebrating.
