The Anti-Defamation League will honor Maxine Clark and Bob Fox at its 2018 Torch of Liberty Award Gala on Sunday, Oct. 21.
The Torch of Liberty Award celebrates “those who, by word or deed, seek to preserve our heritage of liberty, freedom, equality and democracy. It recognizes those who particularly demonstrate courage, potency and commitment to building community.”
ADL Heartland’s executive director Karen Aroesty said in a statement that Clark and Fox “have created a potent partnership, lifting up their passions for community, in supporting youth, immigrants, in addressing race equity and disparities in economic development, in the school-to-prison pipeline, mass incarceration, and with innovative partners in healthcare, education and entrepreneurship.”
The event begins at 6 p.m. at the Ritz-Carlton in Clayton, 100 Carondelet Plaza. Roy Waterman of Jewish Council for Public Affairs’ Criminal Justice Project will be the keynote speaker.
Individual tickets are $250. RSVP by Friday, Oct. 12. Dietary laws will be observed. The event will also be live-streamed and available on demand. For more information or for tickets, contact Megan Williams at 314-627-1333 or visit https://www.adl.org/heartlandtorch.
