B’nai Amoona and Traditional Congregation will present a collaborative scholar-in-residence weekend with Rabbi Capers Funnye, Rabbanit Bonita Nathan Sussman, and Rabbi Gerald Sussman, all of whom are part of Kulanu.

Kulanu, which means “all of us” in Hebrew, is an organization that seeks to create an inclusive Jewish world. It supports isolated, emerging and returning Jewish communities around the world, all of which have experienced some kind of disconnection from global Jewry. The organization works to raise awareness and support to assist these groups. The connections it forges – through education, research, networking, fundraising, sustainable development and publications – help enrich all of their Jewish lives. 

Each congregation will host separate Shabbat events and join together for Saturday night and Sunday morning programming. The community is welcome to attend all the events throughout the weekend. Learn more about all of the events and how to register at JFedSTL.org/Kulanu.

Congregation B’nai Amoona, located at 324 S. Mason Road in Creve Coeur, will host Rabbi Capers C. Funnye, Jr. for the Gallant Motivational & Inspirational Weekend:  Kulanu Across the Globe, from Feb. 21 to 23. 

Funnye serves as rabbi at Beth Shalom B’nai Zaken Ethiopian Hebrew Congregation in Chicago and chief Rabbi of the International Israelite Board of Rabbis Incorporated, which serves congregations in the U.S., South Africa, Nigeria and Uganda, among others.

Traditional Congregation, located at 12437 Ladue Road, will welcome Rabbanit Bonita Nathan Sussman and Rabbi Gerald Sussman Feb. 21 to 23 for “Kulanu: Supporting Isolated, Emerging & Returning Jewish Communities Around the Globe.”

Rabbanit and Rabbi Sussman are a couple whose work with Kulanu has had an impact on Kulanu communities around the world.

There will be two shared events between Congregation B’nai Amoona and Traditional Congregation:

• Saturday, Feb. 22 at 7:30 p.m. at Traditional Congregation,  Rabbi Capers Funnye will lead Havdalah.
