Team Activities for Special Kids (TASK) volunteers are the heart and soul of their organization. Because of special people like Jenna Prince, TASK is able to carry out its mission to build self-esteem and skill in its athletes. TASK is a nonprofit, year-round instructional sports program that provides athletic and social opportunities to kids with special needs.
Daughter of Theresa and Larry Prince of Des Peres, Jenna wanted to share her happiness and love of sports with these kids. She spent more than 20 hours volunteering at the TASK summer camp in Fenton. Although Jenna really wanted to teach the kids how to play soccer, it wasn’t soccer season, so she helped with other camp activities.
Jenna, a student at Parkway South Middle School, was assigned a 5-year-old boy who did not talk very much. Even though it was challenging, Jenna learned how to communicate well enough to help him have a fun week of summer.
