Jewish Parents as Teachers (J-PAT) is a community program launched in 2011 to provide St. Louis area Jewish families who have children from birth to age 3 with the nationally-acclaimed Parents as Teachers program offered within a Jewish framework. We serve interfaith households and families of all Jewish backgrounds. Our participating families and parent educators include members of the Reform, Conservative and Orthodox communities.

J-PAT is a certified provider of the Parents as Teachers program, which includes three home visits annually by a certified parent educator, child development screenings and the dissemination of information and resources on child development. What distinguishes our program from the traditional Parents as Teachers model is our Jewish content, which has been developed by the Central Agency for Jewish Education in St. Louis. Our J-PAT program also provides additional services to families, including periodic group forums for parents and open group play times for families hosted by our participating synagogues and organizations.

J-PAT is funded, in part, by a grant from the Kranzberg Family Foundation, by generous contributions from community donors, and by Congregation Temple Israel.
