Sophia Avery Brooks became a bat mitzvah Nov. 21, 2020 at Congregation Shaare Emeth.

Sophia is the daughter of Michelle and Gary Brooks of St. Louis. She is the granddaughter of Maggie and Jerry Brooks of St. Louis, Louise Mass of St. Louis, and Loren Landau of St. Louis.

Sophia is a seventh-grade student at Crestview Middle School whose interests include art and photography. For her mitzvah project, Sophia collected items for the Animal Protective Association (APA) of Missouri. 

Sophia has one older sister, Olivia Brooks, who is 16.
