The sea lions are back, meaning its time to watch them “blast the shofar” again

Jordan Palmer, Chief Digital Content Officer

One sure sign of spring in St. Louis is the official announcement from the greatest free Zoo in America, that the California sea lions have reported to “Spring Training” for their Sea Lion Show at the Judy and Jerry Kent Family Sea Lion Sound. The shows run daily through March 27.

What our sea lions can do

Sea lion care staff are working with these intelligent pinnipeds on high jumps, flipper walks, high dives, powerful swimming and other acrobatic and athletic behaviors. Throughout the show, staff explain sea lion behavior and positive-reinforcement training, animal fun facts and the need for conserving the sea lions’ ocean habitat.
