Dr. Jaye Shyken, SLUCare maternal fetal medicine specialist, received the Dr. Corinne Walentik Provider/Practitioner Award at the Maternal, Child & Family Health Coalition annual Standing Up for Mothers and Babies Awards dinner in October. The award is given to those who provide direct health or community services and use their knowledge/practice to advocate for improvements in maternal and child health. Shyken was honored for her work helping pregnant women who are addicted to opioid drugs including heroin and painkillers. She is the medical director of the WISH Center at SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital. 

Phil Frischer has joined Caravus as director of Client Strategy. Caravus provides health coverage to individuals and businesses by simplifying the complex with solutions that let clients focus on what matters to them. Frischer is board vice president at United Hebrew Congregation and chair of the Millstone Fellows Alumni Network.

After a 30-year career, Randy Sue Weiss will be stepping down as national executive director of Pampered Chef, a global marketing company that offers a line of kitchen tools, food products and cookbooks for preparing food in the home.

Matthew Schuval has been promoted to CEO of Datix Inc., a St. Louis County business software integration and implementation consulting firm for midmarket companies. He is a member of Congregation B’nai Amoona.

Drs. Edward Fliesher and Kenneth Levy of Woods Mill Pediatrics are now members of Washington University Clinical Associates. This group of pediatric and adult primary care providers has access to the technological and consultative support of Washington University specialists. Fliesher attends Congregation Temple Israel; Levy is a member of Traditional Congregation.

Clayton High School senior Jeremy Berkowitz is one of 13 students to join the Mayor’s Youth Advisory Council in Clayton for the school year. The council is collaboration between the city and school district of Clayton, designed to encourage students to become active in the community by participating in local government. Jeremy is the son of Ira and Julie Berkowitz and attends Central Reform Congregation.

Brandy Scheer is the new marketing director of SCI Engineering Inc., an engineering consulting firm. Her primary responsibilities include developing companywide marketing programs and strategic initiatives, market trend analysis, and direct marketing, advertising, public relations, social media and media training. 

Pulmonologist Daniel Rosenbluth has received the Dr. Neville Grant Award for Clinical Excellence. This award is given annually to a member of the Barnes-Jewish Hospital medical staff. Rosenbluth has helped build the medical center’s cystic fibrosis program into one of the largest and best know in the U.S. He is a member of Nusach Hari B’nai Zion.
