(JNS) The Borscht Belt Fest Robert Klein tribute will headline this summer’s Jewish comedy celebration in upstate New York. The 2025 event, returning to Ellenville in the Catskills region, will honor the legendary comedian with a Lifetime Achievement Award. Organizers say the tribute marks both a cultural milestone and a homecoming for Klein, whose early stand-up roots were shaped in the Borscht Belt’s golden age.

Borscht Belt Fest Robert Klein to receive top honor
The Borscht Belt Fest is a multi-day event reviving the once-thriving Jewish cultural scene of the Catskills. From July 12–14, the town of Ellenville will transform into a nostalgic, yet modern, celebration of Jewish humor, storytelling, food, and entertainment.
This year, comedian Robert Klein will receive the festival’s Lifetime Achievement Award. Known for his sharp wit, Broadway stardom, and comedy albums, Klein’s connection to the Borscht Belt is both personal and professional. The honor will be presented during a Saturday evening headliner program featuring guest comics and a tribute reel of his work.
Comedy showcases and cultural events expand
In addition to honoring Klein, the 2025 Borscht Belt Fest will offer expanded programming. Highlights include a curated Jewish comedy showcase, live music performances, a pop-up Borscht Belt museum, historic walking tours, and a film series focused on classic Catskills comedies.
Over 40 businesses are participating in the event, including legacy delis, performance spaces, and Jewish cultural organizations. Organizers expect to double last year’s attendance.
Reviving the Catskills’ Jewish legacy
The Borscht Belt once hosted stars like Jerry Seinfeld, Joan Rivers, and Mel Brooks before they rose to fame. Events like Borscht Belt Fest aim to preserve that history, inspire new artists, and celebrate the resilience of Jewish culture through laughter and legacy.
