During the Super Bowl, Kanye West, now known as Ye, ran an ad directing viewers to his website, where he sold a white T-shirt featuring a black swastika. His website and the offer have been removed from the Internet, but the offensive design sparked immediate backlash, with widespread condemnation from public figures and organizations. In response, the Israeli American Council launched the “Hate is Out of Fashion” T-shirt campaign, using fashion as a tool to fight antisemitism and promote Jewish pride.
A campaign for strength and unity
The Israeli American Council has launched the “Hate is Out of Fashion” campaign, featuring an $18 T-shirt emblazoned with a Magen David as a symbol of Jewish pride. The campaign encourages people to wear and share the shirt as a way to push back against rising antisemitism.
In a press release announcing the campaign, the organization addressed the broader fight against hate. “Antisemitism is rearing its ugly head once again—this time, even making its way onto clothing,” the Israeli American Council said. “But we won’t let hate define us.”
Fashion, the campaign noted, can make a statement. This one ensures it’s the right one.
