Syria claims it brought down Israeli drone

JERUSALEM (JTA) — Syria said that it brought down an Israeli drone near the country’s border on the Golan Heights.
It is not known whether the drone was shot down or if it crashed near the town of Quneitra, located in an area between the two countries patrolled by United Nations peacekeepers, on Sunday. The area has been the site of fierce battles during Syria’s four-year-long civil war, with some rockets and shells landing over the border in Israel.
The IDF said it did not know of any unmanned aerial vehicles brought down in Syria.
The drone was identified by Syrian media as a Skylark, which is used in intelligence gathering.
