The J appoints new chief program officer

Terri+Grossman
Terri Grossman

Jewish Community Center (The J) has named Terri Grossman as its new Chief Program Officer, replacing Craig Neuman who has served in this capacity for nearly 16 years. Grossman will oversee several of the J’s largest program departments including Early Childhood Education, Day Camp, Camp Sabra, and youth and adult sports among others.

“Terri has been a part of the J family on several different occasions, with her current tenure beginning in 2007 when she was appointed to the position of Director of Camp Sabra,” wrote Lynn Wittles, president and CEO of the St. Louis Jewish Community Center, in a letter to the J’s board of directors.” Before that, Terri served in various roles at camp and as the Director of BBYO.  As you look back to her career, Terri has been advancing Jewish life throughout her career.”

After dedicating 14 years to Camp Sabra, Grossman seamlessly transitioned into a pivotal role within the J’s Development Department. In this capacity, she spearheads initiatives for major gifts, predominantly directed toward the continual enhancement of Camp Sabra. Notably,  she recently completed a successful campaign to help honor the memory of Eli Abeles.  Construction of Eli’s Patio will be complete in time for this summer’s camp season providing a communal gathering space for both campers and staff alike.

“Terri was a participant in the Foundation for Jewish Camps Executive Leadership Program.  She also was selected to participate as a fellow in JCC Association’s Lekhu Lechem program,” wrote Wittles. “Internally, Terri is a co-chair of our Diversity, Equity Inclusion and Accessibility Committee (DEIA) and she’s helped organize and led sessions at JCCA’s staff conferences.”

“I can’t think of a better person to assume this important role at the J,” said Neuman. “Terri has proven herself to be a great asset in building a strong culture and in creating a vision that brings strong business success.  I know she’ll be successful in her new role and I’m so happy for her and for the J.”
