The St. Louis Jewish Community Center (the J) has appointed Monte Sandler as the new chairman of the Board of Directors. Sandler, who previously served as board chair from 2013 to 2015, will succeed Ted Flom, who will transition to the role of lifetime board member after two years of dedicated service.
During the organization’s 144thannual meeting Wednesday night, Flom reflected on his tenure stating, “Serving as the board chair of the J for the past two years has been an incredible honor. I am proud of the investments we have made in our people and infrastructure. I am deeply grateful to Monte for his leadership and passion, and I am excited about the J’s next chapter.”
Sandler brings nearly three decades of executive leadership experience in healthcare IT software and services to his new role. As a lifetime member of the board, he has demonstrated strong leadership, strategic vision, and a commitment to the success of the J.
“As I step into the role of Chairman of the Board, I am humbled by the trust bestowed upon me and I look forward to collaborating with our esteemed board, amazing staff, and the broader community that calls the J home,” said Sandler.
Over the past four months, Sandler has served in the office of the CEO, formed after Lynn Wittels’ departure as president and CEO. As the search for a new CEO continues, Sandler’s role has been pivotal. As chairman of the board, he will guide the J through its next phase of growth and innovation, leveraging his track record of driving results and fostering collaboration to help achieve the organization’s strategic objectives and deliver value to its members and the broader community.
“The J is blessed to have outstanding leaders like Ted and Monte. We are filled with gratitude for their wisdom, guidance, and dedication. With leaders like them, the J will go from strength to strength,” Rabbi Brad Horwitz, chief Jewish engagement officer at the J.
