The directors of “Big Sonia” are inviting the public to join them at a discussion of the documentary film at 3 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 6 at the St. Louis Kaplan Feldman Holocaust Museum.
For years, octogenarian Sonia Warshawski has been a public speaker at schools and prisons, where her stories of surviving the Holocaust as a teenager have inspired countless people who once felt their own traumas would leave them broken forever. “Big Sonia” explores what it means to be a survivor and how intergenerational trauma affects families and generations.
During this program, directors Leah and Todd Warshawski will share clips from the film and hold a discussion about the importance of telling this powerful story. The presentation will be followed by an audience Q&A, which will include St. Louisan Debbie Warshawski, who is Sonia’s daughter.
