Editorial: A Telling Comparison

JEWISH LIGHT EDITORIAL

In our opinion, here’s pretty much all you need to know about “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell,” which as we go to press has been discarded by both the United States House of Representatives and the Senate Armed Services Committee (and will go to the full Senate for consideration):

•Countries that preclude homosexuals from serving: Cuba, China, Egypt, Greece, Iran, Jamaica, North Korea, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Serbia, Singapore, South Korea, Syria, Turkey, Venezuela, Yemen.

• Countries that allow homosexuals to serve openly in the military: Argentina, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Bermuda, Brazil, Canada, Colombia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, The Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Peru, Philippines, Romania, Russia, Slovenia, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom, Uruguay.

We’ll gladly enlist with the latter group.
