Recent tragedy raises questions about community resources available to help

While the “rough and tumble” nature of contemporary politics deserves serious thought (March 4 story, “Rough-and-tumble politics may have led Schweich into despair”), another issue raised by this tragedy also demands serious introspection: namely the efforts that we deploy to help those facing various mental and other life challenges. Do we provide enough support to these individuals? Do we offer ample resources that might help them overcome these challenges? Have we done enough to raise awareness of and spread compassion for their suffering? I believe that our community is capable of engaging both of these vitally important issues.

A thank-you to the community

On behalf of my family, I would like to thank each person who has made a donation in memory of my late father, Ray Davidson, sent food during shiva and/or sent messages of condolence.

You all have truly honored his memory.
