Jewish funeral homes, cemeteries provide dignified, traditional Jewish burial for all
Thank you for your column addressing the burial of “St. Louis” (News & Schmooze column, June 24). In these infrequent situations, the St. Louis Jewish funeral homes and Jewish cemeteries work together to ensure that an individual receives a dignified traditional Jewish burial.
It is important to clarify that under no circumstances would a Jewish individual be cremated and buried in an unmarked grave due to limited or no financial means.
In such circumstances, the funeral homes and cemeteries contribute professional services, merchandise, cemetery property and cemetery preparation charges — many times at no charge. This is part of our service and commitment to the St. Louis Jewish community.
