Letter: Resources for families with disabled children
Published September 15, 2010
I enjoyed September’s OY! magazine, including your recent article on Jewish inclusion of youth with disabilities. A sidebar in the article lists resources for such children, including our own local JF&CS and two relatively new national organizations, but does not include a well-established national organization, the National Jewish Council for Disabilities (njcd.org). The latter provides guidance and support to parents and siblings, including workshops and retreats; referral services; special schools; support for mainstream schools; and more.
While there is no St. Louis chapter yet, the national center provides some of these resources for all.
