Walter Tishk

Walter Tishk passed away February 5, 2018. He was the beloved husband of the late Libby M. Tishk.
He served with the Army Transport Service through the Merchant Marines in World War II.
Walter studied piano and mastered the instrument. He played in bands growing up in high school and while in the Service. He played professionally, traveling with many of the well known big bands of the 1940s and 1950s. After starting a family, he decided to quit the constant travel of the music business. In 1955, he started Walter Tishk and Associates, a food brokerage firm which he presided over until 2004. Walter enjoyed a sterling reputation for the quality of his products and fairness in his dealings. In Walter’s world, every day was the perfect day for companionship, food and enjoyment with his family. He loved horse racing and owned and raced many winning horses around the country.
He will always be remembered for his positive outlook, sense of humor and empathy for those less fortunate.
Walter is survived by a son, Dr. Alan (Cecilia) Tishk, a daughter, Andrea (Randy Gorlick) Tishk, and granddaughter Melissa Tishk.
He is also survived by sisters Anna Lee(Edward Wolff) and Harlene Towbin.
