Walter G. Stern, died July 20, 2014. Beloved husband of Nora Rand Stern; dear father and father-in-law of Jamie (Robert) Driver and Missy (Paul Gleason) Stern; dear grandfather of Abbie and Haley Driver, Sydney and Haydn Gleason; dear brother-in-law of Ellen (the late Arnold) Horween and the late Nancy (the late Norman) Roy; our dear uncle, cousin and friend. Mr. Stern was a graduate of Clayton High School, the founder of the Clayton High School Alumni Association, and a graduate of Brown University. Walter founded W.G. Stern & Co. Insurance in 1964 and served as the company’s president for 50 years until his death.  Mr. Stern was a member of the Barnes Jewish Hospital Foundation Board and is currently president of the Ladue City Council. Walter is a former president of both Westwood Country Club and the St. Louis Club. Mr. Stern was a former board member of the JCC, the Jewish Federation of St. Louis, and the Missouri Amateur Golf Association. Private family services were held. Memorial contributions preferred to the Missouri Botanical Garden, the Siteman Cancer Center-Lung Cancer Study, the JCC or the Jewish Federation of St. Louis.
